National Lighthouse Day

Senator John H. Chafee sponsored a joint resolution designating the day of August 7, 1989 as “National Lighthouse Day.” In summary “Designates August 7, 1989, as National Lighthouse Day and calls for lighthouse grounds, where feasible, to be open to the public.” On November 5, 1988 President Ronald Reagan signed the Bill into law (No. 100-622). SPECIAL: Jamestown Newport Ferry will offer a special Sunset Cruise on National Lighthouse Day. Click on Event Website for more information.
